In early 2019, the International Airport of the Region of Murcia became operational, located 78 km from Águilas, with several international routes to various countries in Europe. It is connected to the road network via the RM-16 and RM-17 highways. At a distance of 70 km, is the Alicante-Elche Airport. In addition to the Road Network of the Region of Murcia and the Mediterranean Highway (A-7), a few kilometers from the urban center of Águilas is located the Mediterranean Motorway (AP-7), an axis that runs along the coast from France to Algeciras through free and toll sections. Águilas is connected to Murcia capital by commuter train. In medium-long distance, there is a line that connects Águilas with Madrid, and a high-speed line from Murcia and Cartagena to Madrid and the Valencian Community.
The town is divided into two large bays, Levante and Poniente, dominated by the emblematic silhouette of the Castillo de San Juan de las Águilas. This fortress, now a museum, can be visited. From above, one has a wonderful view of the entire city.
In the center of the urban area, is the Plaza de España, popularly known as La Glorieta, from which the main arteries of the city branch out. In the words of El Viajero, La Glorieta features the exotic retreat of a central garden.
