It is the last stop in the south of the so-called Costa Cálida, a name that refers to the 250 km of Mediterranean coast of the Region of Murcia, and which is characterized by its microclimate and sunny environment with little rainfall.
The town is divided into two large bays, Levante and Poniente, both separated by the emblematic silhouette of the Castillo de San Juan de las Águilas. This fortress, now converted into a museum, can be visited. Upstairs there is a wonderful view of the entire town.
Águilas has 28 km of coastline and 35 beaches. These splendid conditions are even more favored by the microclimate generated by its location, surrounded by a series of mountain ranges that separate it from the Guadalentín valley. There are more than 3,200 hours of sunshine a year, and an average temperature of 23ºC, which brings with it mild winters and summer nights with a tropical atmosphere.
Águilas is also a spectacular point of interest for diving.
In addition to offering excellent areas to enjoy diving, the city of Águilas is an excellent option for practicing all types of water sports: windsurfing, dinghy sailing or canoeing. In recent years, the city has become a benchmark in the practice of triathlon, having hosted several national competitions.
In the vicinity of the fishing port and the promenade, there are several terraces where they serve excellent dishes, fresh from the sea. The restaurants in Águilas and surroundings are varied and affordable, rice, red shrimp, fresh fish, paella...
